A Glittering New Year

The Old Year fades away into yesterday's memories as the New Year gets dressed for the celebration in all her glitter and sparkle.

It is at this time that I wish time travel existed and I would travel back in time to celebrate earth's renewal in all her splendid nakedness before cities and electricity took away the awesomeness of the night sky, before asphalt roads and fast food, before life started rushing by and we forgot to stop and notice how truly magical our world is. I like to walk out to the woods or to some open space and imagine what it was like all those many years ago when time was tracked by the sun and moon and seasons, and the magic and mystery were embedded in everyday life.

 

 I am not a cold weather person but even I can appreciate that Winter is mysterious and magical. The quiet coldness deceives us while the magic goes nearly undetected. The blanket of snow covers a tiny world of life thriving in the dark and cold. Plants and animals both reliant on this coldness....and fearful of it. Winter by another name is Beauty and the Beast.

 

We go about our lives while the New Year arrives unaware of the flurry of life under the blanket of winter and await the arrival of Spring, when the earth unveils her magic.

 

While you enjoy the comfort and warmth of your home and love of family, take a moment to be aware of your surroundings and breathe in life while the magic unfolds around you.

ALL IS CALM ALL IS WHITE

The best part about having internet is all the wonderful inspiring sights and sites you stumble upon. Most recently I found this enchanting blog 'Burlap Luxe'. French and Irish born Dore Callaway is an interior designer in southern California. Just as it seems like the colors and shadows of autumn have dropped a shimmering misty gray curtain as the season fades into a winter wonderland, Dore has created a world of white so enchanting it breathes life into colorlessness. Here are some of my favorite pics of that dreamy whiteness.

Are these dreamy pictures or what. Sometimes I think I can't live without color and then I come across a site like this and think...oh yes I could. It's so calming and magical.

WITCH PARTY 2012

I decided to have my own witch party this year. Decided I am entirely in need of having more fun. I sent out 13 invitations (perfect number for a coven) figuring this year would be a trial. Start small. Although everyone backed out at the last minute or didn't show up except for my one diehard, always there friend...we still had a lot of fun. Here are some pics to enjoy.
